On October 12, the Everett Public Schools (EPS) Board of Directors interviewed five candidates for appointment to Board Position 1 which was vacated in July.

The interview process began at 2:30 p.m. and concluded at 6:20 p.m. when the board went into Executive Session to review the candidates’ qualifications. Returning to open session at approximately 7:25 p.m., the board voted to appoint Roman Rewolinski to Position 1. Mr. Rewolinski will serve as a member of the Board of Directors until that term ends in 2025. At that time, he may choose whether to run for election to serve another term.

It was a difficult decision for the board as there were many qualified candidates. The applicants were screened through written applications and interviews for comparative qualifications, experience and potential fit. They had competing strengths and many qualifications which contributed to the difficulty of the board’s decision.

“The breadth and depth of the applicants’ qualifications made this a very difficult decision,” said Pam LeSesne, board president. “I am thankful for the director’s time and commitment to the selection process. We look forward to returning to a full board on October 24.”

“We are grateful for everyone who chose to participate in the process. We appreciate seeing so many outstanding citizens committed to the work of the district,” said Dr. Ian Saltzman, district superintendent.

Mr. Rewolinski is a CPA and relocated his family to Everett in 2017 for its strong community, affordable housing and good schools. His interest in serving on the board is to utilize his broad experience in finance to help the district remain solvent while investing in students, protecting jobs and improving student outcomes. Rewolinski has three children who attend school in the district.

“I am honored and humbled to be appointed to serve on the Everett Public Schools Board of Directors,” stated Mr. Rewolinski. “I look forward to working with the board members, administration, teachers and staff to ensure that every child has the opportunity to get a great education.”

Rewolinski will be administered the oath of office at the next board meeting on October 24. The meeting begins at 4:30 p.m. in the Community Resource Center Board Room at 3900 Broadway in Everett.
