On September 15, 60 volunteers from five different Safran sites located in Everett, Bothell and Marysville, including Nathan Kwok, Safran Cabin’s EVP of Sales and Marketing and Give & Grow Board President, debuted their first “Create” project in Washington State at Hawthorne Elementary.

Safran Cabin is a world leader in aircraft interiors and systems with locations throughout the Puget Sound and across the world and through their non-profit, Give & Grow, they strive to improve the lives of children and schools in need through three specific missions: Create, Educate and Donate.

Through Create projects, volunteers improve the physical condition of schools with surface-level improvements such as murals and playground painting.

The project at Hawthorne Elementary includes:
• Installing a Gaga pit (Gaga is a fast paced, high energy sport played in an octagonal pit)
• Painting on the sports courts, including a US map
• Painting a welcome mural on the upper playground
• Painting four murals each highlighting SOAR (Safety, Ownership, Acceptance, Respect)
• Priming and painting basketball backboards and rims
• Donating sports equipment carts and equipment

“We are grateful for this community partnership in creating a beautiful and bright space for students to play and enjoy their time during recess,” said Jennifer Reyes, assistant principal. “The undercover upgrade has brought such joy and light to an otherwise bland space. The kids were in awe when they saw it on Monday afternoon and were ready to get basketball games started.”
