Check me out on the new morning show 6 – 10 AM weekdays

A message from the editor…

Classic Country 1520 KXA radio has added a new morning show from 6 – 10am hosted by Lee Dart. Yes, the same Lee Dart that publishes, edits and writes MyEverettNews.com. I started doing radio in Everett back in 1978 and have been involved in radio in either news, operations, sales or on-air ever since. When the opportunity to host the morning show presented itself recently, I jumped at the chance. It’s the first live and local show on the station since coming on-air back in November. I’ve long been an advocate for live and local radio right here in Everett and now I’ve got the chance. I’ll be providing updates and topical information while keeping the chatter to a minimum. The station only airs 8 minutes of commercials an hour divided up into 4 two-minute breaks so listeners don’t have to suffer through long commercial time outs and the focus can be on the music. Speaking of the music, Classic Country 1520 KXA plays the songs you just don’t find on the radio anymore. Artists like Merle Haggard, Conway Twitty, Loretta Lynn, Willie Nelson, John Conlee, Dolly Parton, Waylon Jennings and Johnny Cash. Also, Keith Whitley, Randy Travis, The Judds, George Strait, Patty Loveless and many more artists from the 50’s thru the 90’s presented in a contemporary fashion.

This isn’t Seattle or Puget Sound radio though the station can be heard around the sound. Everett and Snohomish County are distinct from Seattle. With a population over 100,000 in Eveett and more than 600,000 in Snohomish County we are a separate market. While there are similarities, the differences are great and the chance to showcase those and bring more positive attention to my hometown is a great opportunity.

Radio has always been my passion and that’s why I jumped at the chance to be on-air again. That doesn’t mean I’m going to be dropping MyEverettNews.com. I’ll continue to do here what I’ve been doing for the past year and a half, reporting news and information about Everett from the perspective of someone born and raised here. In fact, the radio job will help to pay the bills and keep this online site up and running. As always, if you have questions, comments or news tips do send them to me here thru email by clicking this link or keep up with us by subscribing to our RSS or Twitter feed or one of the “follow us on the net” links on the lower right side of this page. You can also leave your comments in the box below this story. Thanks for your support, for helping this local site grow and for passing along your thoughts and ideas. I hope you get the chance to take a listen to the radio show once in a while.
