Notice in this afternoon from the Washington State Department of Transportation that motorists driving on both northbound and southbound I-5 through Everett, Washington at night this week will face slowdowns. Here’s the scoop.

People who rely on northbound and southbound I-5 for overnight travel through Snohomish County should plan for lane reductions over the Snohomish River bridges.

Travelers on northbound I-5 can expect that work as they approach Marine View Drive (milepost 194.5) through the north side of the bridge near milepost 195.2. The nightly work will start as early as 9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11, through 6 a.m. Friday, Dec. 15.

Southbound travelers also should prepare for a nightly lane reduction from just north of the bridge (milepost 195.2) to Marine View Drive starting at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11, through 4 a.m. Friday, Dec. 15.

This work will allow crews to install platforms needed for the I-5 Snohomish River Bridge Painting project. The bridges were last cleaned and painted in 1978.
