For the last two years the team made up of Everett Firefighters has been tops at raising funds for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society Firefighter Stairclimb Fundraiser.
This year there are 71 Everett Firefighters who will participate in the climb on Sunday March 8th.
Before that time the team wants to raise $125,000.00 and be the top fundraising team for the third straight year.
Today Everett Firefighters and their families were out in front of Costco at 102nd and 19th Avenue SE filling the boot.
They will be back in front of Costco on Saturday February 1st and Saturday February 29th from 10 AM – 2 PM both days and would appreciate if you could drop off a donation.
The battle against cancer is personal for many members of the Everett Fire Department who have family members, co-workers and friends who have fought the disease.
Here’s more about their efforts from their official team page.
This year the Everett Firefighter Stairclimb Team will be climbing in honor of Emma Lande – the amazing 19 year old daughter of an Everett Firefighter who is a 2-time Hodgkin’s Lymphoma Cancer survivor.
71 Everett Firefighters – the largest team Everett has ever had in 29 years – will be participating in this year’s Stairclimb.
We will be climbing in full fire and breathing gear in a physically challenging competition that represents the struggle that blood cancer patients endure.
Every step to the top serves as a reminder there’s still work to be done in funding and finding cures.
In the past two years, Everett Fire has been #1 in fundraising out of 337 departments and 2000 firefighters participating.

What is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society?
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is the world’s largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research, education and patient services.
The mission of LLS is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Since its founding in 1949, LLS has invested nearly $1 billion to advance cancer therapies and save lives.
Did you know?
Every 3 minutes someone is diagnose with blood cancer and every 9 minutes someone loses their life to this terrible disease.
Leukemia causes more deaths than any other cancer among children and young adults.
Firefighters are three times more likely to receive a blood cancer diagnosis than the average person due to their increased exposure to carcinogens.
