Everett Police traffic detectives were called out after a man was seriously injured after being hit by a car while walking along south 2nd street in Lowell Friday afternoon.

Everett Police Public Information Officer Aaron Snell says about 4:20 PM two men were walking near a curve in the 4800 block of South 2nd street when one of them was struck by a car travelling northbound.

The car left the roadway and ended up just south of the Lowell Park. Medics were called and the man who was hit was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center.

South 2nd street was closed for about three hours while traffic detectives investigated. The driver of the car stayed on scene and was speaking with officers.
