Everett Lists Legislative Priorities For 2020

On Wednesday the Everett City Council will hear a briefing on the city’s priorities with regards to the State Legislature. There are four basic areas.


1. Healthy and Thriving Communities

  • Increased funding for behavioral health, prevention and treatment
  • Increased funding for homelessness, public health, mental health and addiction services

    2. Public Safety

  • Funding to expand mental health field response teams to connect people experiencing homelessness with needed services
  • Funding to help city and regional jails access medication-assisted treatment (MAT) services

    3. Quality of Life and Economic Development

  • Expand tools to provide quality housing at a variety of price points
  • Support efforts to maintain transportation funding

    4. Workforce Development

  • Support efforts to strengthen STEM education in K-12 schools
  • Support efforts to increase educational attainments to meet regional workforce needs
