Everett Lists Legislative Priorities For 2020
On Wednesday the Everett City Council will hear a briefing on the city’s priorities with regards to the State Legislature. There are four basic areas.
1. Healthy and Thriving Communities
Increased funding for behavioral health, prevention and treatment
Increased funding for homelessness, public health, mental health and addiction services
2. Public Safety
Funding to expand mental health field response teams to connect people experiencing homelessness with needed services
Funding to help city and regional jails access medication-assisted treatment (MAT) services
3. Quality of Life and Economic Development
Expand tools to provide quality housing at a variety of price points
Support efforts to maintain transportation funding
4. Workforce Development
Support efforts to strengthen STEM education in K-12 schools
Support efforts to increase educational attainments to meet regional workforce needs

Everett Government
