Last Saturday, I wrote about an Everett businessman’s decision to turn the Point After Lounge into a strip club. Now citizens in Mukilteo who are opposed to a strip club across the street from their city limits have launched a Facebook page to draw attention to the club and organize against it. The fate of the club now rests in the hands of the Snohomish County Auditor’s Office licensing board. It is interesting to note that Seattle area media is reporting Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon is saying in a press release, (released yesterday, the last day for public opposition to the club), that he wants tighter controls on where clubs can be located and more chance for public comment. I couldn’t find a copy of the Press Release on the County’s Web Site, but here is what KOMO News reported. The funny thing is that Robert Noriega first filed a legal notice back on March 4th for an application for a strip club in that location. He later withdrew the application but certainly somebody at the county would have been aware that someone was considering a new strip club. Shouldn’t that have prompted a review of the county’s rules? As I said last week, this should be interesting.
