Last night members of the Sheriff’s Office Violent Offender Task Force (VOTF) and Region 1 SWAT responded to the 500 block of East Casino Rd for a planned operation to arrest an armed and dangerous suspect wanted for two counts of murder from out of state.
East Casino Road between Evergreen Way and 7th Ave SE were closed for over six hours, starting around 6pm and finally finishing at 2:21 am this morning.
The suspect barricaded himself inside the residence. Teams attempted to negotiate with the man, but he refused to surrender.
Throughout the several hour standoff, SWAT used flash bangs and gas in an attempt to resolve the situation. Eventually, teams entered the building and the suspect was located hiding in the attic. He was taken into custody without incident.
The man is set to be extradited out of Washington State to face murder charges. The name of the suspect was not released.
It’s been a busy couple of days for officers in the area. On January 31st, there was an 11-hour standoff between police and a gunman, who also barricaded himself inside a home.
