In a unanimous vote, the city’s Waits Motel purchase is officially a done deal.
As mentioned in previous reporting, the agreement was already signed between the City of Everett and the building owner, but there was a stipulation that the deal was pending city council approval.
With the Everett City Council’s approval, the deal moves forward.
Resident and manager of Waits motel, Emily Simpson, had some choice words for the council, which can be viewed in the video below:
Waits motel residents will receive relocation help and reduced rates to match their current spending.
Other topics included discussions on possible annexation to the Sno-Isle Library System, merger with a Regional Fire Authority, and levy lid lift in an effort to address a growing deficit. These will likely be discussed further in future council meetings and would require a public vote.
Another unanimous vote was made to settle a claim of water damage due to a defect in the city water system by a resident on Maple Ave.
