At tonight’s Everett City Council meeting Everett Mayor Cassie Franklin named former Everett Police Chief Dan Templeman as a Senior Executive Director in her administration. Here’s a press release sent out by the city explaining Templeman’s role with the City of Everett, Washington.
During the Everett City Council meeting on Dec. 6, 2023, Mayor Cassie Franklin announced that she has appointed former police chief, Dan Templeman, to serve as a senior executive director.Templeman served the Everett community as a member of its police department for over 30 years, spending the last nine as its chief.
“Dan is an extraordinary leader and I’m thrilled to have him join our team in this new capacity,” said Mayor Franklin. “As we tackle issues like crime and fentanyl, his decades of experience in law enforcement will be invaluable.”
As executive director, Templeman will provide high-level leadership and direction in the establishment and implementation of broad organizational goals. He will direct the activities of other high-level staff, directors and senior-level managers, coordinating their activities to ensure the needs of the community are met. Templeman will be working alongside Senior Executive Director Lori Cummings as part of the Mayor’s team.
“I’m honored to accept this appointment from Mayor Franklin, and I’m looking forward to starting this new chapter in my career,” said Templeman.
Templeman retired from the Everett Police Department on Oct. 31, 2023 after a 31-year long career, starting as a patrol officer in 1998 and ending as chief of police.
In this new role, Templeman will have the opportunity to utilize his extensive experience in law enforcement, government administration, labor relations, intergovernmental relations, community engagement and advocacy to support and advance the City’s work in priority areas including public safety and economic development.
Templeman’s first day as senior executive director will be Dec. 11, 2023.
