Emollience Massage and Wellness

Emollience Massage and Wellness

Emollience Massage & Wellness is in the Silver Lake neighborhood in south Everett.

On the front of the brochure describing Emollience Massage and Wellness it says, “Invest in Yourself”. That’s exactly what owner Jayda Perry has been doing for the last several years.

“I’m an independent person and knew I wanted to work for myself,” Jayda told me when we met this week.

“When I was looking online for careers I noticed a lot of listings for massage therapists. I’m a mom of three, I take care of people and knowing I helped someone feel better is rewarding for me.”

Like a lot of small business owners in Everett, a major personal event led Jayda to this career path later in life.

Raising three children she needed something that offered flexibility and also a livable wage. In 2019 she found West by Northwest School of Massage on Hewitt Avenue in Everett, Washington. She invested in herself and began their program. When the Pandemic hit she was still able to learn in a hybrid program and graduate.

She began working in a corporate chain and built her skills, continuing to learn and grow. She still knew she wanted to work for herself and a couple of years ago found a space in a former denture clinic in the Silver Lake area on 19th SE.

“The space was completely raw and I had to remodel it to convert it to the vision I had for a special place where guests would feel safe, comfortable and be able to relax and escape their stress,” she explained. “I did almost all of the work myself, starting up front and expanding to additional space within the building.”

There’s now an infrared Sauna, two treatment rooms and a multipurpose room where they offer yoga, classes and special events.

Jayda describes her approach to treatment as a combination of reflexology, Champi Scalp massage, along with a Swedish massage to give the body a complete head to toe relaxation while adding pressure point therapy to areas of the back and shoulders for deep muscle tension relief.

One of her specialties is prenatal massage. “I love working with expecting moms,” she said with a huge smile. “It’s like a two-for-one!”

Jayda has two other therapists who work with her and they are available seven days a week. Appointment hours are 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM Monday – Friday and 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM Saturday and Sunday. They do not accept walk-in clients.

Late in life career changes and self employment can be challenging and Jayda told me she was determined to succeed.

“I started off joining Facebook groups and learning from other’s experience, she said. “I began with Groupons to get people to try my services and that led to reviews and referrals. I’ve set up chair massages at community events and am working with people I met at my kids school’s PTA. I’m developing a teacher appreciation program.”

She offers gift cards and is part of the Spa Finders Gift Card program so people who live across the country can buy a gift card for friends and relatives here and she will honor those. She also started a drawing and gift card promotion for the month of December. If you’d like to learn more you can check out her website here and she’s also on Instagram.

Emollience Massage and Wellness is at 10830 19th Avenue SE Suite C in the Silverlake neighborhood in Everett, Washington. The phone number is (425) 230-3080.

“I found my purpose, I found my path and I believe in it,” Jayda told me as I left our meeting.

I’d say her investment in herself is paying off. Do yourself a favor and invest in yourself with some stress-reducing “me-time” and support another independent small business in Everett.
