“I ate the sandwich and said to myself this is it, I want to make these,” Erwin told us.
He went to work at a place that specialized in Cheese Steaks while he looked for a place to call his own. He found a spot at 41st and Hoyt, opening Erwin’s Philly Cheese Steak five years ago.
Now Erwin was able to put his own spin on the iconic sandwich. His favorite creation is the Bahama Cheese Steak.
All of his Phillys start with a soft Italian roll. The Bahama is loaded with beef rib steak, smoked German sausage, bacon, pepperoni, white American cheese and cheddar cheese sauce.
Other favorites include the Cheese Steak Deluxe with onion, mushrooms, green pepper, lettuce, tomato and white American cheese or the Pastrami Deluxe with beef pastrami, white American cheese and cheddar cheese sauce.
“Currently I’m getting ready to introduce a Breakfast Philly Cheese Steak,” Erwin said with a smile. “A Philly with eggs, bacon, sausage, cheese…it should be on the menu soon”.
Erwin works with two employees and they are open Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM. They’re located at 4030 Hoyt at the corner of 41st and Hoyt at the east end of a building that also houses a convenience store and dry cleaner.
They offer dine in or take out and you can learn more here on their Facebook page. If you’d like to call in an order their phone number is (425) 252-4444.
Come support another locally owned small business. Your taste buds will thank you.
