Traffic cameras on I-5 near Everett documented what a road rage incident that lead to a lengthy fight with construction workers and a shooting.
Here’s the official report from SMART Investigators at 8:50pm:
Shortly after 4 p.m., Washington State Patrol (WSP) responded to a report of a road rage incident on the shoulder of I-5 northbound near milepost 197. The suspect vehicle began ramming a WSDOT vehicle and a lift that was on the shoulder of I-5, operating over the slough, with two employees onboard.
The suspect was armed with a hammer and an altercation ensued between the suspect, WSDOT employees and a Washington State Patrol trooper. During the altercation, the WSP trooper shot the suspect. Law enforcement immediately rendered aid to the suspect. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
One WSDOT contractor had non-life-threatening injuries.
We are told the incident ended with a WSP Trooper shooting a person near milepost 197 in Everett. I-5 North between Everett and Marysville remained closed until midnight so SMART detectives could investigate the scene.

This video shows the suspect trying to flee the scene after trying to hijack the truck with a construction worker still on the manlift. You’ll also see the officers arrive to detain him. When exactly the shooting occurs is unclear in the video:
