Everett Police Major Crimes Detectives worked in conjunction with the Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force and the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force and were able to track down Shawntea Grimes Hamilton, the woman suspected in the murder of Christopher A. Wilson on June 10, 2023.

In the early morning on June 10, 2023, dispatch received a call from a neighbor reporting that they heard shuffling and then “three pops.” Officers arrived on scene and when they did not find anything suspicious outside, they attempted contact with the apartment and received no response. The reporting party told officers their neighbor was moving out and they believed something may have fell.

A few hours later, about half a block away from the original incident address, a victim reported their vehicle had been hit by a bullet sometime overnight. The responding officer then noticed there was another call from 2619 Baker Ave.; the original reporting party said they woke up and found, what appeared to be, a bullet hole in their home.

Given the information gathered, officers entered the apartment to conduct a check on the welfare of those inside and found Wilson deceased with apparent gunshot wounds.

On July 11, 2023, the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force caught up with Grimes Hamilton in Toledo, OH and arrested her. She was later booked into the Lucas County Jail. Everett Police Major Crimes Detectives are currently enroute to Ohio to interview Grimes Hamilton, the Snohomish County Prosecutors Office will be handling the extradition procedures.
