One Injured In Early Morning Apartment Fire On Hoyt

Firefighters quickly contained and extinguished an early morning apartment fire where one man suffered first and second-degree burns.

Dispatchers received multiple 911 calls just after 2:30 a.m. reporting an apartment fire on the second story of an apartment building in the 3600 block of Hoyt Ave. Initially, a neighbor was awoken by the sound of breaking glass and saw flames coming from the window of the involved apartment where the fire alarm was sounding. The neighbor was able to notify occupants in the
surrounding units to evacuate.

Fire crews arrived on the scene to find a working fire in a two-story garden-style apartment building with flames coming from the window of one of the units. Firefighters worked quickly to contain and extinguish the fire, preventing it from spreading to adjoining apartments.

A man in his 50s who lives in the apartment was able to self-evacuate. He received first and second-degree burns. He was initially transported to Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett and later transferred to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment.

Two apartments were damaged, one from the fire and the other suffered smoke and water damage. The apartment management was able to relocate the residents who needed assistance with housing; all other residents were allowed to return to their apartments.

The cause and dollar amount of damage are currently unknown. The fire is under investigation by the Everett Fire Marshal’s Office.

Initial Report 4:30 AM: Fast work by Everett Firefighters kept an apartment fire contained to a single unit in the 3600 block of Hoyt early Friday morning.

Reports of fire coming from a second story apartment began coming into Sno 911 around 2:30 AM.

Arriving Everett Fire crews reported flames shooting from the building as they approached.

Crews were able to quickly get control of the fire.

One person was transported to Providence Regional Medical Center to be checked out. There were no other reports of injury.

At this writing an investigator with Everett Fire is on scene working to determine a cause.
