Solid investigative work takes drugs off the streets…

In 2017, a 30 year-old woman was convicted for possessing stolen firearms and dealer quantities of drugs seized from her Everett home. After serving prison time, she was recently released.

This week, a 34 year-old man was stopped in the 6000 block of McDougall Ave driving the 30 year-old woman’s Acura. (The vehicle had been seized and forfeited on the 2017 charges, but the woman had purchased it back.) A drug dog indicated the car contained illegal drugs and it was impounded. The woman was booked on a DOC detainer and the man was released pending investigation.

Officers served a warrant on the car and found 1 pound of heroin, 1 pound of methamphetamine, numerous pills believed to be Fentanyl, stolen property and almost $28,000 in cash. Officers noted that most of the drugs were found in a backpack.

After the warrant, officers continued investigating and went to a local business to review video and see if the male had been in possession of the backpack found in the car. While reviewing video, the same man who had been driving the car walked into the business and saw the officers. He wanted to know what they were doing and started watching video with them. As he watched, the man identified himself in the business as he was carried the backpack. Officers arrested the man and found heroin and almost $15,000 cash on his person. He was booked into jail.

The stolen property found inside the car was returned to its rightful owner.
