Word in from Everett Community College on the Governor’s appointment of a new Trustee.
Washington state Gov. Jay Inslee has appointed retired Everett attorney Vickie K. Norris to Everett Community College’s Board of Trustees.Norris recently retired from Everett law firm Anderson Hunter, where she worked for more than 30 years as an attorney focusing on employment law issues.
She’s also served as a board member for the past four years for the Everett Community College Foundation.
“We’re pleased to have Vickie join our board. She has a proven track record of success in her community work and will be a strong advocate for students and employees at the college,” said EvCC President David Beyer.
Her parents, Kay Norris and Dr. Melvin Norris were both college educators.
Norris is board president of the Snohomish County Public Defender Association. She has served as a board governor representing the second congressional district for the Washington State Bar Association. She has also served on the board of Planned Parenthood of Western Washington, the American Board of Trial Advocates and the Everett Public Library.
She and her husband, J. Leach were the 2012 recipients of the City of Everett’s Richard Wendt Award of Excellence for Contributions to the Arts for their commitment to the arts and artists in Everett.
Norris earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington then her law degree from Willamette University. Norris replaces trustee Gigi Burke. Her term is from May 2018 through September 2019.
EvCC’s Board of Trustees meets on the third Tuesday of each month in the college’s Henry M. Jackson Center.
