They are holding an informational picket. The United Food and Commercial Workers Local 21 and Providence have been bargaining since last fall.
A spokesperson for the Union has not responded to a message but here is a portion of a flyer that the Union sent out to members about today’s action. Click to enlarge.
Here’s what Lisa Daly from Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett provided to MyEverettNews.com via email when we asked about the picketing.
We greatly value our nurses and are focused on reaching an agreement as soon as possible. While informational picketing has no impact on patient care, we are disappointed that the union has chosen this option, and we would prefer to get back to the bargaining table. Providence Regional Medical Center Everett continues to remain committed to negotiating in good faith with UFCW- RNs Bargaining Unit. Since September 2017, PRMCE and UFCW RN Bargaining Unit have met for 19 sessions. Since January 2018, we have had the assistance of a federal mediator with the goal of successfully negotiating a new agreement. While we are pleased we’ve made progress in some areas, we still have additional items to discuss. We look forward to continuing discussions at our next mediated session on June 11 – keeping in mind our shared goal of continuing to provide high-quality, compassionate care to our patients and community.
