EPD Investigates As Juvenile Suffers Accidental Gunshot Wound

Editor’s Update Wednesday 9:45 AM: Everett Police Spokesman Aaron Snell tells MyEverettNews.com the boy who suffered an accidental gunshot wound Tuesday afternoon was 12-years-old. He has been transferred to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle due to the nature of the wound but is expected to recover. Everett Police are still investigating how the 12-year-old came into possession of the gun.

The shot was believed to be accidentally self inflicted and not life threatening.

The boy was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center by Medic Unit.

About 5:15 this afternoon Everett Police and Fire were called to the Fireside West Apartments at 17 West Casino Road to a report of a person who had been shot.

Arriving officers found a boy suffering from a gunshot wound. It appeared his wound was not life-threatening.

He was taken by Medic Unit to Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett.

Everett Police spokesman Aaron Snell tells MyEverettNews.com officers on the scene are still trying to determine the circumstances but it appears to be an accident and self-inflicted.

It apparently happened inside the boy’s apartment. EPD will work to see if others were with the boy and where the gun came from. We will update as more information becomes available.
