If you know a junior or senior in the Everett School District there will be two meetings next week to explain a new apprenticeship program where kids can be paid while they learn skills that will led to a career in Aerospace.

Information meetings are happening Tuesday and Thursday
Everett Public Schools and The Aerospace Joint Apprenticeships Committee (AJAC) have partnered to establish a Youth Apprenticeship program for local aerospace and advanced manufacturing industries.
AJAC’s Production Technician (Youth) Apprenticeship is a 2,000 hour program designed for high school juniors and seniors to develop career-ready skills in the aerospace and advanced manufacturing industries.
This apprenticeship program combines paid on-the-job training at an AJAC employer and college-level classroom instruction which can lead to a high school diploma, journey-level card and short-term college certificate.
Beginning this spring, current 11th- and 12th-grade students will be hired by local advanced manufacturing companies to be trained by experienced job professionals. During the fall of next school year, students will begin taking courses to complement the skills and knowledge learned on the job. Those students graduating in June 2018 will stay enrolled in the program to complete their training. Upon completion of 2,000 hours of on the job training and three courses, students will earn a Production Technician Journey Level Card. This credential will permit employment and further training in advanced manufacturing.
For interested incoming students entering 11th or 12th grade in the 2018-19 school year, there are two information nights scheduled. March 13 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Henry M. Jackson High School library (1508 136th St SE, Mill Creek) and March 15 from 6:15-7:45 p.m. in the Community Resource Center (3900 Broadway, Everett).
