A look at where the pedestrian hit the van.

It appears a pedestrian hit near 21st and Broadway Wednesday night was standing in the lane of travel and not in a crosswalk.

That’s just a preliminary indication as Everett traffic investigators look into the crash that shut down southbound Broadway between 18th and 22nd streets for an hour and a half.

The crash was reported about 8:15 PM and involved a pedestrian and a mini-van.

The pedestrian was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the mini-van called 9-1-1 and stayed at the scene cooperating with Everett Police Traffic Investigators.

  3. Eleanore Says:

These tweekers jay walk constantly in that area, from Safeway to QFC they just waltz right out into traffic then will stand in the middle lane expecting everyone to stop for them stupid fools…damn drunks and druggies get out

  4. Bourne Says:

I wonder if the unfortunate pedestrian had their face buried in a smart device while wearing headphones?

  5. Susan Says:

They never stop look and walk, they just walk anymore with no consideration for anyone. Divers have to be aware at all times. I feel sorry for the driver.

  6. Bourne Says:

Cross at the green, not in between.

Wait until the cyclists start invading en masse. We’ll have stories like this every day.

  7. Anon Says:

There’s no winning with these jay walkers. You could start ticketing them, but they’ll never pay, and it’d just be a waste of office time.

They’re completely unpredictable, so you take a gamble if they’re walking in your direction but not quite in your lane yet. Sick of these people.

There’s a crosswalk with a signal on 20th and broadway! I feel bad for the driver of the minivan.
