Creative Stylez Studio, a new barbershop in Downtown Everett, opened last week, fulfilling a 17-year dream for Aaron Davis.
Aaron grew up in Everett, attending Cascade High School, where a school project led him down the path to his eventual career.
The assignment was to research a career. As an avid Hip Hop dancer, Aaron decided to research a pro career in dance. His teacher told him he already knew a lot about the subject, challenging him to choose a different career to research.
Another passion of Aaron’s was art. Fellow students used to pay him to draw on their t-shirts. Aaron decided to combine hip hop culture with art by researching hair design.
He ended up continuing beyond the project and started cutting hair without a license. When he ultimately decided to get into the trade, he went all-in, by entering competitions to establish his brand.
Aaron has won many competitions. Most notably the Las Vegas Barber Expo. His trophies are on display at his new shop at 2916 Hewitt Ave in Downtown Everett, right next to the Hewitt Reptile Emporium and Escape Everett.
He has no plans to host his own competitions, as he’s more interested in networking with others and providing a creative space for other types of artists and businesses. He may host hair jams, which encourages a more collaborative environment.
Creative Stylez specializes in fades and design work. Appointments can be made on their website. Their hours are 9am-6pm Tuesday through Saturday. They are officially open now, but their Grand Opening celebration will be July 21st.
Previously, Aaron worked at the The Good Wolf Barbershop in Everett and still works out of Kolor Studio in Pioneer Square once a week. Opening up his own shop has been a lifelong dream.
