First, the main arterial streets are in pretty good shape. Evergreen Way, Everett Mall Way, Madison were looking pretty good.
Get off those streets and into the neighborhoods and it is a completely different story with compact snow and ice.
Came by a truck on fire at South Cabot road just east of Beverly Lane and you can see from the photo how bad the neighborhood streets are.
Went into QFC at 50th and Claremont and crews were busy stocking the shelves. The store closed last night and didn’t open until 8 this morning and the crew was doing a good job restocking the store. They even had a big pallet of firewood in the front of the store.
Went next door to check in with the folks at Ace Hardware. They went through 200 show shovels in the past 24 hours. They were out of ice melt but are expecting a new shipment late this morning. Also in the shipment are more sleds and snow shovels.
What started out as bright blue skies are quickly turning gray with slight snow in the forecast this evening and heavier snow Monday into Tuesday so if you can safely get out of your side street you may want to do that soon. If you feel okay driving in these conditions and your car has the right tires and wheels for snow. Mine does not so it is back in the garage for the duration but we will keep updating as we can.
A reminder the latest from the City of Everett’s efforts can be found at this link which is also being updated as conditions change. The also provide a list of streets that have been most recently plowed.
Another good way to check on conditions in various parts of Everett, Washington is to check the city’s traffic camera network here.
Stay safe and remember to check on your neighbors.
