Wetmore Plaza

The fountain will be out from under wraps in a few weeks.

Had some inquiries into why the Wetmore Plaza fountain in front of the Everett Performing Arts Center was covered by a tent and surrounded by a fence.

We checked in with Meghan Pembroke at Everett City Hall who provided the following explanation…

We are performing some maintenance to the fountain, including:

·         Resurfacing the fountain bowl, which includes grouting, grinding and polishing the terrazzo.

·         Adding multiple coats of sealer to the terrazzo

·         Refurbishing the rocks within the bowl.

·         Repairing the lighting

The tent was installed to protect the work from snow and rain, and to provide an enclosure that we can heat up to the appropriate temperature for the work. The work is expected to last another 5-6 weeks. We are completing the work in the winter because the plaza is least used during this time.
