Snohomish County Sheriff’s Substation To Open Near 128th & 4th Avenue West In Unincorporated South Everett

Word in from SCSO that a new substation will be opening to the public next week south of the Everett, Washington city limits. Here’s the scoop.

The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office is announcing the grand opening of the new Sheriff’s Office Mariner Square Substation in south Snohomish County. The grand opening ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, October 24 located at 12717 4th Ave West in Everett. Members of the public are invited to attend, ask questions and tour the new substation.

The substation is located on the west side of the I-5 corridor at the corner of 128th St SW and 4th Ave W. This will provide deputies with a workstation closer to residents and businesses on the west side of I-5 and will allow for an increased law enforcement presence in the region.

“We have listened to local business owners and area residents, and together we have developed strategies to increase police presence, reduce criminal activity and ensure our community is safe,” said Sheriff Adam Fortney. “This new substation would not be possible without our business community and the relationships we’ve developed. I want to personally thank John Weiss, Tyler Johnson, and the entire Mariner Square Business Association for their continued partnership and dedication to finding long-term sustainable solutions.”

Over the past two years, Sheriff Fortney has been meeting regularly with south county business owners and community members to build a balanced approach to reduce crime in this area. The Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the Snohomish Regional Drug Task Force, has worked diligently over the past 24 months to dedicate resources, develop intelligence, identify ongoing criminal activity and provide an increased presence near Highway 99 and Airport Road.

The Sheriff’s Office – Office of Neighborhoods will be one of the units housed at the new Mariner Square Substation. The Office of Neighborhoods teams up law enforcement with social workers who go out into the field to identify, locate, and connect with unsheltered and vulnerable populations in the county. They operate under the principles of accountability with compassion; the goal is to assist frequent jail utilizers, unsheltered populations, and those struggling with mental and/or behavioral health to find services they need and lessen the likelihood of re-offending, having law enforcement contact or being incarcerated.
