Everett Police have written in court papers that they don’t believe this was a random shooting but was related to gang activity by all parties involved. Here’s the press release out from EPD this morning.
Last night, members of the Everett Police Department Anti-Crime Team (ACT) and Violent Crime Unit (VCU) arrested a second suspect, nineteen-year-old Victor E. Torres-Zuniga, in connection with the murder of a fifteen-year-old on September 8, 2023.
Twenty-year-old Uriel A. Hernandez Martinez was arrested by ACT and VCU on the evening of September 9th. The shooting is believed to have been in connection to a long-running feud between rival gang members.
Since the shooting occurred, ACT, VCU and our Major Crimes Detectives have been working tirelessly to identify any involved parties in the shooting. Although the investigation remains ongoing, it is believed the two suspects responsible for the shooting that resulted in the teen’s death are now in custody.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Everett Police Department TIP LINE at (425) 257-8450 or Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound at 1-800-222-TIPS.
This suspect is expected to make an appearance at probable cause hearing this afternoon at 1 PM. The other suspect was arrested Saturday night and is still in the Snohomish County Jail on $5 million dollars bail awaiting the filing of formal charges.
