Thick smoke could be seen from miles away.

Just after 12:30 PM on Saturday Firefighters were dispatched to a report of a fire behind the building at 1011 Hewitt Avenue in Everett, Washington.

Initial reports were of a small fire but it wasn’t long before thick black smoke could be seen for miles pouring from the structure.

The fire was upgraded to a full commercial response that brought in crews from Snohomish and Marysville to assist Everett Firefighters.

The building contains apartments over a restaurant with the fire spreading from back to front. Crews were able to get it under control in about 30 minutes and moved to overhaul operations.

At this writing inspectors with Everett Fire are on scene trying to determine a cause.

While there were no injuries reported several residents who were displaced are being helped by the Snohomish County Chapter of the American Red Cross.

We’ll provide updates as they become available from Everett Fire. Here are a few photos from the scene. Click to enlarge.
