On the morning of April 4, 2023, the manager at the Judd & Black Distribution Center, in the 3300 block of McDougall Ave, discovered 22 kitchen appliances had been stolen from the back of three delivery trucks sometime overnight. The total loss exceeded $42,000.00.
Surveillance from a nearby business showed at least two suspects were involved who used a U-Haul truck to transport the stolen merchandise from the scene. The U-Haul truck was eventually located in North Everett and it contained three refrigerators that were among the items reported stolen. The U-Haul had switched plates and was later determined to be stolen from a U-Haul location in Lynnwood.
During the investigation, a suspect was identified. Evidence confirmed he was in the areas of both the U-Haul theft and Judd & Black burglary when they occurred. Probable cause was developed to arrest the male for Taking a Motor Vehicle without Permission 1st Degree, Burglary 2nd Degree, and Theft 1st Degree.
With the help of our Anti-Crime Team (ACT), on June 21st, the male was located and arrested for the above Probable Cause. He admitted being present when the U-Haul was stolen and that he had rode in it to Judd & Black. The male denied any involvement with taking the appliances and instead claimed he went to Judd & Black after hours and climbed over the 8-foot-tall fence with barbed-wire to leave a sticky-note asking for a job.
He was booked at the Snohomish County Jail on the above charges.
The investigation into the second suspect is ongoing. Outstanding work by our Property Crimes Detective who worked so diligently on this case and to our ACT Team for their continued great work and support in apprehending suspects!
