For more than two decades there has been a 9-hole Disc Golf Course on the west side of Silver Lake in Everett, Washington, just south of the playground. It’s called the Silver Lake Excalibur Disc Golf Course and is maintained by the Everett Parks and Facilities Department.

On Friday June 2nd, a new store to support Disc Golf will open about a block away from that course. This weekend I had a chance to talk with Micheal Carter, who along with his wife Amanda, is opening Easy 3 Disc Golf at a space within the Chevron Station at 16th SE and 112th SE across from Silver Lake Park.

I asked Micheal about the name Easy 3 Disc Golf.

“When they make a rough shot off the tee you’ll often hear players remark, well an easy three from there,” he explained. “I thought as long as they were saying that on the course it would be a good branding opportunity.”

Micheal first took up disc golf fourteen years ago while living in Arizona.

“I had two buddies, Mikey and Nick, he said. “Mikey was the first person to put a golf disc in my hand and I was hooked.”

Five years ago he and Amanda moved from Arizona to this area to take a position with Sprouts Farmers Markets.

“It didn’t work out like I hoped it would so I began looking into opening my own business,” Micheal told me. “I considered opening a barbecue restaurant but hate to do dishes, love to play disc golf, so my wife encouraged me to pursue this.”

Amanda is even taking a week off of work as they prepare to open the store on Friday June 2nd.

Disc Golf is extremely popular in the Pacific Northwest. While there is only the one course in Everett there are several in Snohomish County including a Disc Golf Resort at the former Kayak Point Golf Course in Stanwood.

It’s a very simple game to play and there are multiple styles,” Micheal explained. “Technique matters as you work to get your disc into the basket in the fewest throws possible.”

Easy 3 Disc Golf will be open seven days a week from 9 AM – 6 PM. Their address is 1515 112th SE Everett, Washington. You can learn more on their Instagram Page here or on their Facebook Page.

Micheal says during the Grand Opening on June 2nd everyone who makes a purchase will get something from his personal collection.
