Reminder Of 529 Closure Between Everett And Marysville Monday And Tuesday

May 21, 2023

Everett

Just a heads-up for another closure for the work being done on 529 between Marysville and Everett, Washington as WSDOT works on new ramps at I-5 and 529 at Marysville.

State Route 529 will close overnight Monday, May 22, and Tuesday May 23, between Ebey Slough and Interstate 5.

The highway between Everett and Marysville will close from 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. each night. During the closure, contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will install safety barrier to separate northbound and southbound traffic.

People who usually use SR 529 will need to detour via I-5 and the Fourth Street interchange.

Earlier in May, crews restriped the northbound roadway and installed temporary barriers to shift southbound traffic and create space for crews to build a roundabout. The current configuration will remain in place for about a year.

When complete, this project will build new ramps connecting SR 529 to northbound and southbound I-5. These ramps will provide alternative access between the interstate and Marysville by allowing people to avoid the I-5/Fourth Street interchange. The interchange often experiences backups due to a rail crossing about 1,000 feet west of the freeway. This project also is extending the HOV lane on northbound I-5 from Everett to SR 529.

People who are traveling can get real-time traffic information on mobile phones with the WSDOT traffic app and by following the WSDOT traffic Twitter feed.
