Police on a tandem bike were a hit at the 2019 4th of July Parade.

Thousands lined the streets of downtown Everett for the 4th of July Parade in 2018.

This year the City of Everett cited budget and staffing issues as reasons the City was not going to be able to put on the annual 4th of July Parade this year. The Parade fell victim to the Pandemic the past couple of years and many folks have expressed concern that if this year was missed the chance to revive the parade will have passed.

Former Everett City Council member Scott Bader is one of the people who would like to see the 4th of July Parade continue and is forming a committee to try and see if it is possible to hold the parade. Here’s what he told us via email this morning.

I’m venturing out to see if there is enough interest in a citizen led Independence Day parade that we could get a sufficient number of volunteers to make it a reality. I’ve been in touch with city staff who are willing to ‘coach from the sidelines’.

Here’s his pitch but if you are interested in participating you need to respond now.

Interested in bringing back Everett’s 4th of July parade and willing to give some time to make it happen? We are trying to assemble a sufficient number of volunteers in the next few days to see if it is feasible. Volunteers would be needed to plan, including finding sponsors, units to be in the parade, set up the logistics, and volunteer on the 4th of July for about 6 hours.

If you are interested, email your name to Everett4thofJulyparade@gmail.com.

The committee would start meeting next week.
