Investigators from the Everett Police Traffic Safety Unit are investigating a multi-car crash that shut down 112th street between 7th SE and 3rd SE at the start of the afternoon commute.

Everett Police Public Information Officer Kerby Duncan tells MyEverettNews.com the early indication is a vehicle ran the red light at 3rd SE striking a car and then continued east colliding with other vehicles.

There were multiple injuries, and a small child was ejected from one of the vehicles according to Duncan. Everett Fire reported one of the cars involved caught fire which was quickly put out. None of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening and the circumstances of the crash are under investigation.

As of this writing (3:15 PM) the roadway is still closed with detours at 3rd SE and 7th SE and traffic backups on Everett Mall Way as a result.
