Recently Resigned Everett Police Officer Charged With Misconduct, Perjury, Other Crimes

This in from Everett Police tonight regarding an Everett Police Officer who resigned while under criminal investigation.

On June 5th, the Snohomish County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office filed criminal charges against a former Everett police officer for first degree perjury, domestic violence stalking, official misconduct, and a privacy act violation.

The charges were the result of an outside criminal investigation that was requested by the Everett Police Department upon learning of alleged criminal conduct committed by the former officer, Jared Corson. The independent criminal investigation was conducted by the Monroe Police Department and concluded in April.

“I am extremely disappointed in the conduct of our former officer. Police officers work very hard every day to earn the trust and respect of our community. Mr. Corson’s behavior was unacceptable and he clearly breached the public’s trust and jeopardized that respect,” said Everett Police Chief Dan Templeman. “He violated our core values of honor, professionalism and integrity and there is no excuse for his behavior. This is the opposite of what we expect of our officers.”

Corson came under investigation in December 2019, after the Everett Police Department was notified of a temporary restraining order filed against him for stalking. The order referenced potential criminal actions by Corson and he was immediately placed on administrative leave. Due to the potential criminal actions disclosed by the victim, the department requested the Monroe Police Department conduct a criminal investigation which concluded in April 2020 and resulted in criminal charges being forwarded to the Snohomish County Prosecutor’s Office for review. The Everett Police Department immediately began an internal administrative investigation and Corson resigned from the department on May 11th, 2020, prior to the completion of the investigation.

Chief Templeman added, “I want to reassure the public that the alleged conduct of this former officer is not representative of the men and women who wear the badge for the Everett Police Department and selflessly serve our community every day with honor and integrity.”

In addition to the internal investigation, the department will also examine its internal processes and make any necessary adjustments to prevent this from occurring in the future.

The criminal case and all related questions will be handled by the Snohomish County Prosecutor’s Office.
