On July 28th, 2018 Charlie Wall was murdered in the 5100 block of Evergreen Way. Everett Police Major Crimes detectives investigated the case and over time made multiple pleas for the public’s help even releasing a video of possible suspects. Today Everett Police announced an arrest in the case. Here’s the update.

At about 5:00 am on July 28th, 2018, video surveillance showed three people walking southbound in the 5100 block of Evergreen Way. They passed homeless 47 year-old Charles “Charlie” K. Wall, who was on the sidewalk outside a business. The three soon turned back and returned to Charles where the tallest individual initiated an altercation. Charles tried running away but was shot in the back by the tall individual. Charles died at the scene.

Detectives worked with tips from community members and reviewed video surveillance from local businesses to track the three to and from the murder scene. Major Crimes detectives solicited the public’s help through the news media trying to identify the three subjects, but were met with negative results.

In September 2018, a Chelan County Jail Deputy contacted detectives to advise he heard a male inmate brag about being involved in a recent robbery and shooting in Everett. Detectives continued reviewing the video surveillance and used search warrants to obtain evidence that tied the Chelan inmate to the location at the time of the shooting.

The Chelan inmate, who had since been released, was located at his home in Wenatchee on the evening of June 11th. While interviewing with detectives, the 24 year-old man, Anthony Middendorf, admitted to shooting Charles Wall during a robbery attempt. He was arrested and booked into the Snohomish County Jail on probable cause for murder.
