We actually stopped by and took a couple of photos of Jeff Doleshel as he was putting on some final touches at the start of the month.
He was trying to do a soft open and ease back into business after being closed longer than expected for remodeling. That idea didn’t quite work out.
“We were slammed as soon as we opened and word got out on social media,” Doleshel told MyEverettNewscom. “We ran out of fish and chips and then everything else, the response was amazing.”
Not only had people missed Ray’s but it was the perfect spot for dining in the era of social distancing as they only offer take out or drive up service.
The small dining room was eliminated in the remodel to make more kitchen space. There is another temporary change right now, no cash.
They only take credit and debit cards at this time which helps keep things cleaner and allows for better distancing between employees and customers.
With such high demand hours are a bit shorter right now. The drive in is open Monday – Friday from 11 AM – 8 PM and on Saturday from 12 Noon – 5 PM. They are closed on Sundays.
“We’ve seen a lot of change over the 58 years we’ve been in business here in Everett,” said Doleshel. “We’re glad we can be of comfort to folks with the best fish and chips, burgers, fries, onion rings and real ice cream shakes for another half century.”
