For more than 60 years Hydros have raced on Silver Lake in Everett, Washington.

Now the City of Everett is being asked to allow the Seattle Outboard Association to expand their annual hydro races on Silver Lake an additional day. If you have an opinion, here’s how you can make it known.

Everett Parks & Community Services is seeking community input about expanding the annual hydroplane races at Silver Lake to a two-day event. Community members can provide input by contacting Scott Pool, recreation coordinator, at spool@everettwa.gov or 425-257-7307 or by attending the Board of Parks Commissioners and Tree Committee meeting on Tuesday, March 3, 6 p.m. at Spruce Hall at Forest Park (802 E Mukilteo Blvd.)

The Seattle Outboard Association will hold its 66th annual regatta on Silver Lake the first weekend in June. The mini hydroplane races have been held annually as a one-day event, attracting more than 1,500 participants and spectators. The Seattle Outboard Association is asking to expand it to a two-day event, Saturday and Sunday, June 6-7.

For some, this popular, family-oriented event has been a tradition for decades. Racers participate in racing classes determined by age and motor size, with racers as young as 10 competing. The Seattle Outboard Association is a nonprofit organization that covers all expenses for the regatta with the help of sponsors.
