Editor’s Update Monday 4/8/19 7:44 PM: The Medical Examiner has ruled the cause of death an accident. Everett Fire investigators are trying to determine what caused the fire. Here is the brief from the M.E. Today.
The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office has completed the examination and confirmed the identification of the 82-year-old female who was found deceased following a fire in the 4700 block of West View Drive in Everett, WA on April 7, 2019. The decedent is Marilyn F. Weitkamp of Everett, WA. The cause of death is inhalation of products of combustion. The manner of death is classified as Accident.
One person was found deceased inside an Everett home in the 4700 block of West View Drive Sunday night. Here’s the press release from Everett Fire.
At approximately 7:50 p.m., the local 9-1-1 center received multiple phone calls reporting a house fire in the 4700 W View Drive. Early reports from residents stated flames were showing through a window. As firefighters arrived, they received reports from the neighbors that the homeowner was an elderly female.While firefighters quickly worked to extinguish the fire, they also conducted a search of the residence and found one deceased victim in the home. On a secondary search, there were no other victims located.
Conditions are too dangerous for fire inspectors to start the investigation into the cause and origin of the fire. A fire watch crew will be standing by throughout the night to address any hot spots that may flare up. The investigation into the fire will start in the morning.
Snohomish County PUD responded to the scene to secure live wires that were down in the front yard of the home. A total of ten Everett Fire apparatus responded to the incident. Everett police responded to the scene to assist with traffic control and to assist with the death investigation. Identification of the victim will be handled by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office and released after the next of kin have been notified.
