Happy 21st Birthday To Ban Of All Personal Fireworks Use In Everett, Washington

June 28, 2018

Everett, Everett Government

It’s that time of year again and instead of re-inventing the wheel here’s a replay of our first “Fireworks are illegal in Everett” story back in 2011.

fireworks

Nope. Still not legal within the Everett City limits.

Since 1997, the discharge of any type of fireworks without a permit has been illegal within the Everett city limits. The are only two permits that will be issued within the city for Fourth of July. One for the Thunder on the Bay Fireworks Show over Port Gardner Bay at 10:20 PM and the other for the Everett Aquasox annual show after their game. Every other firework is illegal in the Everett City limits including so-called “Safe and Sane” items, sparklers, heck even those silly little black snakes. In years past, Everett Police and Everett Fire have had crews going around the city confiscating fireworks and writing tickets.

So nothing has really changed. Fireworks are illegal inside the Everett City limits. People will still shoot off fireworks inside the Everett city limits.

If you are upset about people shooting off fireworks you can call the authorities. Usually there’s not an emergency so please don’t call 9-1-1. If you want to call about illegal fireworks, call 425-407-3999. This non-emergency line will be answered at Snohomish County 911 by the same people who answer the 9-1-1 calls.

The intent is to take pressure off the 9-1-1 system. When you call 425-407-3999 you may be placed on hold or you may be placed in a queue. You may hear a recorded message with information about alternative numbers or resources you may use instead of waiting for a dispatcher.

Neighbors shooting off guns, call 9-1-1. Neighbors shooting off firecrackers, call 425-407-3999.

People waving sparklers, call 425-407-3999. People using a garden hose to put out a roof on fire, call 9-1-1.

Yes there is the annual public display of fireworks over Port Gardner Bay in north Everett on the 4th of July.
