Fatal Semi + 5 Car Crash Shuts I-5 At Snohomish River Bridge

Editor’s Update 8:00 AM: The Washington State Patrol says a 57-year-old Everett woman was killed when a semi truck hit several cars that had been involved in a crash on the Snohomish River Bridge. Initial reports show three cars were involved in a crash possibly with a vehicle on the shoulder of the freeway. Two other cars hit those and then a semi hit multiple vehicles involved and jackknifed blocking all lanes. Southbound I-5 was closed for five hours. The crash remains under investigation by WSP.

Initial report 1:20 AM: Southbound I-5 is being re-routed onto 529 at Marysville following a midnight crash involving a semi and six cars. The Washington State Patrol has confirmed one fatality at the scene and multiple patients were transported to Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett.

For the detour, once off 529 in Everett go southbound on East Marine View Drive and get back onto southbound I-5 at the East Marine View Drive on-ramp. The freeway is expected to be closed for a couple of hours while the State Patrol investigates. Here are some MyEverettNews.com photos from the scene.
