Everett Office Furniture Building Destroyed In 3-Alarm Fire

September 26, 2017

Everett Fire

One of the oldest buildings in Everett was gutted by a 3-Alarm fire Monday night.

The Everett Office Furniture Building at 2931 Broadway was built in 1905.

Around 10 PM 9-1-1 began receiving multiple calls about a fire coming from the back of the building.

Responding Everett Fire crews reported seeing flames from several blocks out.

One person was rescued from the north side of the building by fire crews.

It is unknown if anyone else was in the building.

Firefighters had to make a defensive attack due to multiple live power lines exploding at the back of the building.

The blaze quickly went to three alarms bringing crews from Marysville, Lake Stevens, Naval Station Everett, District 1, Snohomish and District 7 into Everett to assist.

There were at least 80 firefighters working the fire and at one point three different ladder trucks were putting water on the fire.

The building collapsed about an hour into the fire and crews at this time are not able to determine if anyone was trapped in the building.

In addition to Everett Office Furniture there were other businesses in the building and what appeared to be a couple of apartments and possibly a church on the upper floors.

Firefighters will be on the scene all night and Broadway is likely to remain closed between Pacific and Hewitt until tomorrow morning.

Because of the building collapse it may be late tomorrow before investigators can enter the building to try and determine the cause.

Here are some MyEverettNews.com photos of the scene.
