The program is sponsored by Everett Police Department, Molina Healthcare, Boys & Girls Club of Snohomish County, Consulate of Mexico in Seattle, Casino Road Stakeholders, Mukilteo School District, City of Everett, Everett Police Officers Association, Everett Police Management Association, Total Rental Center, Avocado’s Restaurant, and La Hacienda Mexican Restaurant.
Today through Friday the kids will go through numerous soccer drills and games.
There are also presentations on making healthy choices.
Breakfast, lunch and snacks are served and each child gets a t-shirt and their own soccer ball.
There are more than 70 volunteers and coaches working with the kids.
Many Everett Police officers take vacation days to volunteer as coaches and there are officers here from new hires to Captain all taking part.
Coaches range from high school students and stand out athletes to people who work for the Sounders and range in age from 14 – 70. There is also a volunteer medical staff and volunteer meal crew.
Today there didn’t appear to be any worries about immigration, gangs, language barriers or safety issues that often plague Casino Road. Just kids, cops and volunteers sharing a love for soccer and enjoying each others company.
Here are some MyEverettNews.com photos from day one.
