Beginning Driver Hit Gas Main, Everybody Okay

We had some calls about the smell of natural gas in the industrial area of southwest Everett about 8:30 PM Wednesday night. We did some checking and apparently a new driver was getting some lessons and zigged when they should have zagged hitting a gas main outside of a building in the 1200 block of Industry Street across from Stockpot Soups.

There were no injuries but the main was broken and a large amount of gas was leaking for about an hour. Everett Police shut down Industry Street and the Everett Fire Department stood by until the gas company could come shut off the gas and cap the pipe. Everything was cleared out by about 10:00 PM.
