The fire was reported about 5 AM.

At least three families are being helped by the Red Cross following a fire at the Highlander Apartments in north Everett.

Fire was reported in one of the buildings around five o’clock this morning. First in rigs from the Everett Fire Department reported smoke and flames coming from the windows of an apartment as they arrived.

Residents were being evacuated from their apartments and crews got a great stop on the fire limiting it to two top floor units plus smoke and water damage to another unit below.

There were no reported injuries but one woman was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center for possible smoke inhalation. She was not admitted and returned back to the apartment complex.

Investigators from the Everett Fire Department are on scene looking into the cause of the fire. No word yet and no damage estimate. The apartments did not have sprinklers but did have an alarm system. Here are some MyEverettNews.com photos from the scene. Click photo to enlarge.
