The Everett Silvertips made a major announcement today. Here it is…
The Everett Silvertips (@WHLSilvertips) announced today the club has declined to extend the contract of Kevin Constantine.“First, I want to thank Kevin for his most recent four years of service in his return to the Everett Silvertips organization,” said Silvertips general manager Garry Davidson. “As we have decided to make a change for our head coaching position, we will focus our efforts over the remainder of the month preparing for the upcoming WHL Bantam Draft and then pursue the filling of the head coaching vacancy.”
Constantine, named head coach of the Silvertips in his return on June 13, 2013, leaves as the Silvertips franchise leader in wins (326), games coached (576), compiling an eight-year career record 326-182-68 and a points percentage mark of .625. In his most recent span, the Silvertips captured two U.S. Division titles (2014-15, 2016-17) and this season eclipsed the 100-point plateau for the second time in club history.
During his career tenure in Everett, the Silvertips made eight appearances in the WHL Playoffs, reaching the WHL Final in 2003-04 during the organization’s inaugural season. They reached the Conference Finals twice (2004, 2006) and carried an overall postseason record of 45-49.
