Everett Man Wins $170,000.00 Lottery Prize

January 30, 2016

Everett man Well it wasn’t in the billions or millions but word this week that an Everett man has won a nice chunk of change at a south Everett convenience store with the “Hit 5” Lottery game. Here are the details as provided by the folks at the Lottery office…

A man from Everett had the surprise of a lifetime when he found out he won $170,000 playing Hit 5 from Washington’s Lottery!

He purchased his winning ticket from the Silver Lake Texaco (1515 112th St SE, Everett, WA 98208) on Monday, Jan. 18th, but didn’t realize he had won until Wednesday, Jan. 20th when he returned to the store to play the next round of Hit 5.

“When I showed up on Wednesday to play, I saw there was a winner for the jackpot. I pulled out my ticket and put it into the machine and I saw it was the winner! I really thought it was a mistake, so I checked it again, and then I asked the girl behind the counter to check, too!”

The winner, a retired liquor control board member, says although he loves playing Lottery, he never expects to win a large jackpot.

“Let it fly. If it’s your turn to win, that’s great,” the winner told Lottery officials.

When asked how he would celebrate his big prize, the winner said he hopes to slowly spend his winnings on home improvements and perhaps take a trip to his homeland of Ireland. He told officials he recently took his granddaughter over to visit family when she graduated from high school.

Proceeds from Washington’s Lottery benefit the Washington Opportunity Pathways Account, providing grants to college students statewide. To learn more about Washington’s Lottery, its beneficiaries and to review all up-to-date winning numbers, please visit www.walottery.com.
