The Everett Fire Department is about to welcome seven new members out of the classroom and onto its fire trucks.

Today the State Fire Academy announced the largest number of graduates (7 out of 19) in the latest 12 week class are from Everett Fire. They will go through a graduation ceremony tomorrow (Fri Oct 30) and then begin working in Everett.

This is the first time in several years that Everett has been able to bring on so many new recruits at one time. They’re expected to fill multiple vacancies in the department due to retirements.

On August 6, 2015 the recruits started the 12-week Recruit Academy that meets National Fire Protection Association 1001 Standard for Firefighter Professional Qualifications at the Firefighter I & II, Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations Levels.

Graduating firefighters have learned basic fire service principles through classroom instruction and rigorous hands-on live fire training. The new Everett Fire Department graduates are:

  • Taylor Cannon
  • Ryan Coffey
  • Mark Farrar
  • Kyle Lont
  • Jakob Lundy
  • Jonathan Voos
  • Michael Wisler
