The last Everett Fire crew left the scene of the house fire at 8:00pm tonight. According to Assistant Everett Fire Marshal Eric Hicks, At about 12:50 p.m. Everett firefighters were dispatched to the 2200 block of 8th St. for a report of a house fire.

Firefighters arrived and encountered flames coming from several windows of the home. Crews were able to control the fire within 10 minutes.

The family had left the home two hours before the first 911 call, so no one was home at the time of the fire. The family of six was displaced.

At least one of the pets in the home perished. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Hicks says there were no injuries and the Red Cross is helping the family. The house is a total loss. (end of update)
