PUD: Equipment Malfunction Led to Everett Power Outage Wednesday Morning

Blown Transformer

This is the transformer that caused all the problems…

Snohomish County PUD spokesman Neil Neroutsos tells MyEverettNews.com an equipment malfunction on a pole at 38th and Broadway led to 14,000 people losing power this morning. The power went out around 9:30am and most customers were back in service by 10:40am with just a handful of businesses in the area around 38th and Broadway still in the dark. “We had a transformer on a fairly large pole down by the stadium that had a fuse blow and that’s essentially what it sounds like the problem was,” said Neroutsos. Snohomish County PUD was able to re-route power to most of the customers affected and will now look at fixing the pole where the fuse went out. Other than a false call of shots fired (which was likely the transformer popping) and a few people stuck in elevators, there were no reports of major problems from the outage. Here are a few tips in case of another Everett Power outage.
