Get an Update on Everett’s Urban Forest

Learn how to be a Green Everett Volunteer Thursday night

Green Everett Partnership is holding an open house Thursday to teach Everett residents about the city’s urban forest health.

The open house will be from 5-6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, in Forest Park’s SpruceHall, 802 E. Mukilteo Blvd. A brief presentation and open discussion about our city’s urban forest health, the partnership’s 20-year strategic plan and the forest stewards volunteer program will follow from 6-6:45 p.m.

Everett Parks & Recreation and Forterra (formerly Cascade Land Conservancy) have created the Green Everett Partnership to improve the ecological health of Everett’s forested parks and natural areas and educate and inspire residents to care for these resources. The partnership aims to create a powerful, cost-effective and replicable model for urban forest habitat recovery.

Together, Everett Parks & Recreation and Forterra recently began assessing the city’s forested parklands and drafting a 20-year plan. The plan will assign responsibilities, determine costs and help build lasting stewardship ties with community volunteers. Forterra is presenting the open house. Its participation in the Green Everett Partnership was made possible by a generous grant from The Boeing Co.
